There is no countdown running in the background. The number stays live while you use it, whether that is an afternoon or six months. On the free plan a number nobody has used for 90 days is released, and we warn you before that happens.
It forwards to the phone you already answer
Calls ring your verified mobile like any other call, so there is nothing new to install and nothing to check. Texts land in your dashboard, tagged with the number that received them.
Ending it is one tap, and it is permanent
Burning stops calls and texts to that number immediately. The number sits in a 30 day quarantine so nobody inherits your traffic, then goes back into circulation. Your message history stays in your dashboard.
What it is not: Numbers are receive-only. They take calls and texts, they do not make them. They cannot reach 911, so keep a real line for emergencies. Some banks and services refuse virtual numbers for verification, and there is no workaround when they do. US numbers only today.

Burning is permanent: you cannot get that number back, so move anything you signed up for with it first. Your message history stays in the dashboard, and the number's metadata is deleted 90 days after it is released.
Most will. Codes from stores, delivery apps, marketplaces and most sign-up flows land in your dashboard in seconds. Some services reject virtual numbers outright, and when they do there is no workaround on our side. We are not going to promise you 100 percent, because nobody can.
No. Numbers are receive-only: they take calls and texts, they never make them. You cannot dial out, and you cannot reply to a text from your dashboard. The only message we ever send is the one-time code that verifies your forwarding number.
No. These numbers cannot place a call of any kind, and that includes 911. This is not a replacement for a phone line. Keep your real one for emergencies.
