Second phone number for verification

A second phone number for verification codes, so the code is all you get.

Real US numbers that receive verification texts in a clean web inbox. The signup gets a number you can burn, instead of the number your bank uses.

The code takes seconds. What arrives after the code does not stop.

Every service that demands a phone number before it will let you in is asking for a permanent line to you, and the six digits are the excuse. Once your number is in that database it gets matched, appended and passed on, and none of that needed your permission.

A second number takes the hit instead. The code lands in your dashboard, the signup goes through, and your real number was never in the form.

$4

What it cost those researchers to buy their own lead back, in real time, minutes after submitting it. No proof of a legitimate business was asked for.

In plain words

What a second number for verification does

It receives the code, and it absorbs everything that comes after the code.

Codes land in a web inbox, not your messages

Texts to your ExpressNumber appear in your dashboard within seconds, tagged with the number that received them. You copy the code from a browser without opening your personal thread list.

Most services deliver to it, and some refuse

Texts from stores, delivery apps, marketplaces and most consumer services arrive normally. Some banks and services reject virtual numbers for verification, and there is no workaround when they do: a phone number validation API reads the line type off the carrier record, and a virtual line cannot be dressed up as a mobile. We would rather you read that here than find out after signing up.

A separate number keeps the fallout separate

If that account is breached or its list is sold, the damage lands on a number you can end in one tap. Your real number is not sitting in the file.

We verify your real mobile once, and never show it

Forwarded calls have to ring somewhere real, so we confirm the number they ring. One account per verified mobile is also what stops spammers farming free numbers, which is what keeps delivery working for everyone.

What it is not: Some banks and services reject virtual numbers for verification. There is no workaround when they do. Numbers are receive-only. They take calls and texts, they do not make them. They cannot reach 911, so keep a real line for emergencies. US numbers only today.

How it works

How the code reaches you

Create a number, put it in the form, read the code in your dashboard.

  1. 1

Create a number for the signup

Pick an area code. The number is live in about a minute, on real carrier networks.

  2. 2

Paste it into the phone field

The service sends its code to that number instead of the one you actually use.

  3. 3

Read the code in your dashboard

Inbound texts appear within seconds, tagged with the number that received them. Copy the code and carry on.

  4. 4

    Keep it, or burn it

Keep the number if the account will need another code. Burn it the day the marketing starts.

Where it goes

Where a second number earns its keep

Anywhere the phone field is required, and the reason it is required has nothing to do with you.

Store and loyalty signups

The discount costs you a phone number. Pay with one you can end.

Food delivery and rideshare

Accounts that text you constantly, from companies that change hands.

Marketplace and classifieds accounts

Verify the account without attaching your real number to the listing.

Free trials that want a code

A code to start, then a mailing list you did not ask to join.

Ticketing and event accounts

One purchase, then years of promotions for events three states away.

Anything you plan to use once

If the account is disposable, the number attached to it should be too.

Common questions

Including the ones other services bury. If something does not work, it says so here.

Most will. Codes from stores, delivery apps, marketplaces and most sign-up flows land in your dashboard in seconds. Some services reject virtual numbers outright, and when they do there is no workaround on our side. We are not going to promise you 100 percent, because nobody can.

No. Numbers are receive-only: they take calls and texts, they never make them. You cannot dial out, and you cannot reply to a text from your dashboard. The only message we ever send is the one-time code that verifies your forwarding number.

Two reasons. It is where forwarded calls ring, so it has to be a real line that answers. And one free account per verified mobile is what stops people farming free numbers, which is the thing that wrecks deliverability for everyone else.

1 US number, 50 forwarded call minutes that never reset, and inbound texts within fair use (500 per number per month). No card. You can replace that number once per calendar month. If the account goes unused we warn you at 60 days and release the number at 90.

No. These numbers cannot place a call of any kind, and that includes 911. This is not a replacement for a phone line. Keep your real one for emergencies.
